...The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Flood Warning
for the following rivers in Illinois...
Rock River at Dixon affecting Lee County
.Potential ice jam is present. The pool downstream near Sterling IL is
reported 100 percent ice covered. While latest reports near Dixon
indicate only partial ice coverage or open conditions, ice jam may be
downstream and causing water to back up at Dixon, which is an ice jam
prone site on the Rock River. Ice jams during very cold temperatures
are unpredictable. They can cause fast response upstream flooding during
the jam and rapid unexpected downstream flooding when the jam releases.
With any ice jam, extreme caution should be taken if near an ice jam as
fluctuations can be several feet within a short amount of time.

The Rock River at Dixon, or from Near Oregon downstream to Lee
County line..
* from this afternoon to late Wednesday night.
* At  615 AM Tuesday the stage was 15.9 feet and may be ice affected.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to near flood stage this
afternoon. Ice jams can result in rapid rises in water levels with
little or no notice.
* Impact...At 16.0 feet...N Canal Drive threatened in Woodland Shores.
Water overflows low-lying banks along west First Street in Dixon.
Residential property threatened near Sherman Avenue and River
Street in Dixon.

Safety message...If you encounter a flooded roadway...turn around and
find an alternate route.

* WHAT...Freezing drizzle through mid afternoon then changing to
freezing rain and snow, before all snow by Wednesday morning.
Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches expected tonight
through Wednesday morning. Total ice accumulations of one tenth
to near one quarter of an inch through this evening.
* WHERE...Lee and DeKalb Counties.
* WHEN...Until 9 AM CST Wednesday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The
hazardous conditions will impact the evening commute,
potentially significantly, and the Wednesday morning commute.
